Hi Alain,

BeStMan version 2.2.1.0 is released.
This version combines full management mode and gateway mode (formerly
bestman-xrootd).
With a configuration option, it'll switch between full management mode
and gateway mode.

As discussed before, bestman-2.2.1.0 requires Java 1.6.
However, srm-client-2 and srm-tester-2 require Java 1.5 at the minimum.
If you'd like to have them all with Java 1.6, that's fine too.

Hi Alex,

Thank you for the new release!

The VDT team has a couple of very high priority tasks to finish up this
week, so I think we'll begin work on integrating the new Bestman release
next week. I hope that time frame is okay with you.

I don't have a strong opinion. It's good to know that I can do whatever
is easier for the clients.

It took us a while, but I'm ready to do the work now.

I now see Bestman 2.2.1.0r2. Is that what I should be using?

Quick question: The VDT is still shipping an SRM-Tester package, which
is distinct from the SRM-Tester-LBNL package that is based on the
current Bestman source code.

We currently are shipping the following tarball:

srm-tester-1.3.tar.gz

It was last updated in May 2007, I think.

I've lost track of what this is, and if we should care about it anymore.
Should this be in the VDT? Should we be shipping it? What is its
relation to the newer SRM Tester?

srm-tester-1.3.tar.gz is SRM v1.1 tester that we do not support any more
because no one really uses SRM v1.1 any more.
what you have in SRM-Tester-LBNL is for SRM v2.2. Is there other
srm-tester in vdt that you had to name it with LBNL?

That was my hunch, but I couldn't remember for sure. I'll do a quick
survey to make sure no one is using it, then consider dropping it.

When we renamed the client, we did the tester too, just for consistency.

Bestman 2.2.1.2.e6 was released in 1.10.1q

This release also contained version 2.2.1.2.e5 (note: e5 not e6) of
SRM-Client-LBNL and SRM-Tester-LBNL
