Hi Alain,

It would be great if we can update fermi-client for ITB release. The rpm is
wget http://www.dcache.org/downloads/1.9/dcache-srmclient-1.9.0-6.noarch.rpm

it is compatible with dcache 1.8.x-x server and has many bugs fixed.

Please let me know if it is still possible.

Thanks,

Tanya

It's getting a bit late, since the ITB testing is in progress. It
worries me to introduce new components at this stage.

How well tested is the compatibility? How serious are the bugs that were
fixed? How urgent is it to ship it?

I don't object to adding it now if it's important, I just want to limit
ourselves to important updates now.

Thanks,

I understand your concern

I've tested it against test stand installation 1.8.15-p8 (exercised all srm command but not will all options). Dmitry is sure that is backward compatible.

it fixed some problems related to usage of srm client against bestman server: e.g current srmcp generates ugly eror message about checksum (the transfer doesn't fail, etc

I can raise this questions tomorrow during ITB meeting - if nobody needs it then we are probably fine.

Thanks,
Tanya

Sounds good. Let me know how the meeting goes, because I won't be there.

By the way, if we don't do it for the ITB update, we could do it
shortly thereafter.

Hi Tanya,
I've updated SRM-Client-Fermi to 1.9.0-6 in a test cache. Since we
don't have good tests in our test suite for Dcache, can you validate it
for us?

You can fetch it with:
pacman -get http://vdt.cs.wisc.edu/vdt_11099_cache:SRM-Client-Fermi

(This will get just the client, I assume you can test against another
server).

Thanks,
scot

Hi,

sure, i will do it tomorrow.

dcache has already another client released:
http://www.dcache.org/downloads/1.9/dcache-server-1.9.2-4.tgz

How hard it will be to take this one?

Thanks,
Tanya

Hi Tanya,
Not hard to update, I've done it already. But the link you sent me
was for the dcache server. You meant the srm client, right?

Ok, we plan to release it in the next 1-2 weeks. If there's a more
urgent timeline, let us know.

Thanks,
scot
